WHAT IS THE TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL?

Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Genesis 2:15-17

UNDERSTANDING THE CROSS

WHAT REALLY KILLED JESUS?

What is the cross really all about? What is its meaning to us? What are its implications in the context of the great controversy?

The death of Christ upon thecross made sure the destruction of him who has the power of death, who was the originator of sin. When Satan is destroyed, there will be none to tempt to evil; the atonement will never need to be repeated; and there will be no danger of another rebellion in the universe of God. That which alone can effectually restrain from sin in this world of darkness, will prevent sin in heaven. The significance of the death of Christ will be seen by saints and angels. Fallen men could not have a home in the paradise of God without the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Shall we not then exalt the cross of Christ? The angels ascribe honor and glory to Christ, for even they are not secure except by looking to the sufferings of the Son of God. It is through the efficacy of the cross that the angels of heaven are guarded from apostasy. Without the cross they would be no more secure against evil than were the angels before the fall of Satan. Angelic perfection failed in heaven. Human perfection failed in Eden, the paradise of bliss. All who wish for security in earth or heaven must look to the Lamb of God.{5BC 1132.8}

"The Bible is its own expositor. Scripture is to be compared with scripture. The student should learn to view the word as a whole and to see the relation of its parts. He should gain a knowledge of its grand central theme—of God’s original purpose for the world, of the rise of the great controversy, and of the work of redemption. He should understand the nature of the two principles that are contending for the supremacy, and should learn to trace their working through the records of history and prophecy to the great consummation. He should see how this controversy enters into every phase of human experience; how in every act of life he himself reveals the one or the other of the two antagonistic motives; and how, whether he will or not, he is even now deciding upon which side of the controversy he will be found. {CT 462.1}"

We are working on a iBooks version of The Demonization of God Unmasked that will include video, audio, and photo elements to illustrate and document the great controversy between the two principles contending for supremacy in the world, as spoken by EGW in CT 462.1:

The Elijah Messages

“How long will ye halt between two opinions? If the Lord be God follow Him, but if Baal then follow him.”

Elijah’s cry to the Israelites atop Mount Carmel typifies the ministry of two Elijah antitypes that were to follow him: John the Baptist, the herald of Jesus Christ’s first advent and the 144000 who are the forerunners of Jesus Christ’s second advent at the end time. Elijah’s cry, “How long will ye halt between two opinions? If the Lord be God follow Him, but if Baal then follow him,” parallels John’s signature message which was similar in character: “Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand,” Matthew 3:2, and “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world,” John 1:29.

What do these two messages have in common?

What were the people to repent of in both Elijah messages?
